Teuk Thla: Kinder, Elementary, Middle and High School

Kindergarten School was opened in 1997 for the poor children and at present caters to 275 children aged 3 to 5 years, divided into 6 classes followed by their teachers and assistants. It was a real need because many poor families did not know to whom to entrust their children during their working time and had no money to pay a daily care.

Primary School was opened in 2004 in order to give poor families a chance to send their children to school without paying for the usual extra-tutorial lessons required in many public schools. At present the school serves 554 children from grades 1 to 6. There are many requests to be accepted in our school to which we cannot give an answer at the present. Twenty from grades 2 to 6 are boarding at our house because of distance or particular family situation.

The Kinder-Elementary School was inaugurated on April 26, 2007 and received recognition and appreciation of our work from the Ministry of Education.

Due to the many requests it is necessary to have a selection in the enrollment in order to choose the poorest and most in need. All the children live in Phnom Penh but they come from different villages. Most parents work in garment factories, are motorcycle drivers or daily workers. They come from different villages to the capital looking for more opportunities and a better future. The children stay with us all the day until 4.00 p.m.

In the school year 2012-2013 the Middle School was started with one class of 7th grade of 40 students. This school year we have two classes of 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th grades and one class of 11th grade.
This school year 2016-2017 we have 391 students in the Middle and High School. 50 of them are boarding at our house because of some particular family situations or for problem of the distance.
